Guy StyleHot weather and high style aren’t always a great combination. And since sweating through a shirt is most unbecoming, we wonder how can a guy beat the heat and still look fashionable. Our expert, celebrity wardrobe stylist Luke Storey, gave us some hints. “The key to dressing for hot weather is in your choice of fabrics,” he says. “Layering of cotton in lighter colors works very well. The Dior Homme spring runway collection was a great example of this done in mostly white, yet very high fashion and chic. It’s great to play with layers of light, flowing fabrics.”

The heat of the day presents the biggest challenge during hot summer months. “Depending on your office dress code,” says Storey, “you might be able to get away with a nice thin cotton t-shirt under a cotton blazer. Be sure the lining of the blazer is also thin and not just a shell. Another option is a cotton button down with a tie, sans blazer.”

For warm weekends and summer nights out, Storey suggests “a nice straw fedora can be a great way to beat the heat in summer, as long as you stick to lighter colors and a wide brim.”

The only fashion “don’t” is, perhaps, a poor choice in sandals. “In my opinion,” says Storey, “mandals should not be worn unless at a resort or a beach. They are not really appropriate for street wear unless you are extremely fashion forward.”
